A Message From The Conductor
Even though we are months into the life of this pandemic, there are few if any certainties that we can point to. What we do know is that this is a highly social disease that is spread by the very things we like to do, that is to entertain our appreciative audiences with live music in a concert environment. During the initial weeks when we were all under a stay-at-home order, there was no acceptable alternative so we had to cancel our regular concert in April. Now that our public health officials have relaxed those restrictions somewhat, we believe we can safely bring back live music to the courthouse square. This is largely because being outdoors is believed to substantially reduce the chance of transmission. Practicing the guidelines for social distancing and wearing protective face masks are also important considerations. Thus, beginning on June 18 and continuing on the third Thursdays of July and August, the Band will return to the square with the kind of traditional band music you have enjoyed over the years.
The experiences of other areas of the country have taught us something of the unpredictable nature of this virus. This makes it difficult to confidently plan for future concerts. While we have reserved dates for our regular season concerts in October, November, January and April, we are dependent on the relaxation of the social distancing guidelines as we move into an enclosed venue. Studies have shown that, under the current restrictions, we would be allowed to fill only 25 percent of the seats in the auditorium. We will be closely monitoring the progress of the pandemic through the summer and will confirm concert dates as early as we can safely do so.
Thank you for your continued support of the CACB. Be safe and stay healthy!
